For Immediate Release
Zurich, 26th September 2024 - The UCI Road and Para Cycling World Championships isn't the only news in cycling in Zurich this week. Leading performance cycling apparel brand Q36.5 and CORE, global forerunners in thermoregulation and core body temperature monitoring, are announcing their partnership with an event at the flagship Q36.5 store on Bärengasse this Thursday.
Q36.5 and CORE Body Temperature Sensor’s partnership is centered around a desire to manage core temperature in elite endurance sports. According to this peer-reviewed study on cycling time-trialists, for every 1-degree increase in core temp, a rider could lose 5% of their power.
Working together is providing unique benefits for the R&D teams at both companies. Q36.5 benefits from the latest thermoregulation science and data to inform the design of advanced thermodynamic cycling kit, and CORE will have an apparel partner to put theory into practice. In fact, both brands have already been sharing the results of tests performed at their labs in Zurich.
Q36.5 sponsors a team by the same name, and CORE is used by over 65% of the World Tour peloton. Additionally, CORE have worked with the Q36.5 continental team for several years.
According to Luigi Bergamo, CEO & Head of R&D Q36.5 “We are working closely with CORE to gain even more precise insights into thermoregulatory performance of our garments. These insights allow us to continue to improve proprietary fabric development as well as the advanced body mapping of our pattern cutting and multi-fabric design, characteristics that already distinguish Q36.5 from its competitors.”
Ross McGraw Head of CORE comments “We’ve long been sharing data and insight about the impact of thermoregulation on performance in cycling. But, without an apparel partner like Q36.5 we could do little more than highlight opportunities. Luigi’s vision for Q36.5 has always had the impact of core body temperature as a key component to increasing performance and comfort through design.”
The event this Thursday at the Q36.5 flagship store, Bärengasse 10 just 5 minutes walk from the Zurich Hauptbahnhof celebrates the launch of Q36.5’s F/W24 Collection ‘The Tools of the Trade’. It includes a talk with Swiss triathlon legend and Q36.5 ambassador Daniela Ryf who will be joined by CORE Founder, Wulf Glatz.
