Adelaide, Australia January 18th - the events surrounding the inaugural RADL GRVL race taking place tomorrow, kicked off in Adelaide today with an attention-grabbing shakedown ride from the TDU expo, led by race co-founders Tiffany Cromwell and Valtteri Bottas. The group rode to the beach dressed in little other than the Australian swimwear brand Budgy Smugglers. The Shakedown ride was sponsored by phone-mount specialist Quad Lock.
Local pro cyclist, Tiffany Cromwell, has played a major role as race co-founder in bringing the international world of gravel cycling to her hometown of Adelaide. Together with her partner F1 driver Valtteri Bottas and Amy Charity, race director of one of the biggest US gravel races - SBT GRVL the line-up of races from the group is expanding globally. The first expansion of the GRVL Series took place in Bottas’ hometown of Lahti, Finland last June. Registration for FNLD GRVL 2024 opened last week.
Valtteri commented: “RADL GRVL is my first gravel race of the season, Tiffany and I have been here in South Australia for a few weeks training and enjoying the terrain. This time of year it’s always nice to focus on the bike for a bit before my day job starts back up next week, and I’m very much looking forward to testing my fitness tomorrow. We have a strong field of riders and there should be some great competition.”
RADL GRVL have a limited number of Quad Lock-branded Budgy Smugglers available at the TDU Expo village for those interested in getting their hands on a pair.
